Frequently Asking Questions
Studies show that while children start preschool at similar levels, those in Montessori programmes make greater gains in language and mathematics over the early years, building a confident foundation for future learning. Source: Lillard & Else-Quest, Science (2006)
At Modern Montessori Preschool, we believe Montessori education is for every child. Each child learns at their own pace through individual or small-group lessons, guided by trained Montessori educators and carefully designed materials. Children are never compared or rushed—they progress confidently at their own level, developing independence and a love for learning. Most importantly, we believe a child should come to school with a smile and leave with an even bigger smile each day—happy, confident, and inspired.
Montessori education is not religious. Like other early childhood approaches, no particular religion is taught as part of the Montessori method. Instead, Montessori education is grounded in respect for all religions, cultures, and people. Respect is a core value in every Montessori classroom—respect for the child, respect for others, respect for the environment, and respect for oneself.
Religion is approached from a cultural and sociological perspective. Children are gently introduced to cultures around the world and learn that people live, believe, and celebrate in many different ways. Through this exploration, children develop openness, understanding, and respect for diversity.
Founded by Dr. Montessori, Montessori is an educational approach that honours the natural way children learn. It encourages independence, curiosity, and a love for discovery through hands-on experiences in a carefully prepared environment. Guided by trained educators, children learn at their own pace—developing confidence, concentration, and respect for themselves, others, and the world around them.

Creativity, problem-solving, and independent thinking are embedded into daily learning—preparing children to adapt confidently to an ever-changing world.
Montessori is guided by a deep respect for the child. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, learning unfolds at each child’s own pace within a carefully prepared environment. Children learn by doing—through hands-on materials that nurture independence, concentration, and confidence.
With freedom within clear limits, Montessori allows curiosity to lead the way, helping children grow not only academically, but also emotionally and socially—laying a strong foundation for life
Yes—children are introduced to technology in an age-appropriate and purposeful way. In line with Montessori principles, learning begins with hands-on, real-world experiences using concrete materials. Technology and basic digital tools are introduced gradually to support learning, creativity, and problem-solving, without replacing human interaction or active play.
Early exposure to artificial intelligence concepts is introduced through simple, child-friendly experiences such as patterns, sequencing, logical thinking, and cause-and-effect. These foundational skills support future digital literacy, while hands-on Montessori learning remains at the heart of our programme.
Modern Montessori offers enrichment programmes that complement the core Montessori curriculum and support the holistic development of the child. These may include creative arts, speech and communication, baking, roller blading, and other purposeful activities that extend learning beyond the classroom. Offerings may vary across centres and are guided by children’s interests and developmental needs.
Our Montessori children transition smoothly into traditional primary schools. With strong foundations in language and mathematics, along with independence, confidence, and positive learning habits, they are well prepared to adapt and succeed in new classroom environments.
Outdoor learning is an integral part of our curriculum. Nature is viewed as a powerful teacher, offering children meaningful opportunities to explore, observe, and discover. Regular outdoor experiences support curiosity, concentration, physical well-being, and confidence. Through nature walks, gardening, sensory play, and environment-inspired art, children develop a lasting connection with the natural world while extending learning beyond the classroom.
Our curriculum is grounded in Montessori philosophy, designed to support how children naturally grow, learn, and construct themselves—academically, socially, and emotionally. It is carefully structured yet deeply respectful of each child’s individuality and pace of development.
What defines our Modern Montessori curriculum:
Modern Montessori Preschool offers a thoughtfully prepared environment where calm, order, and beauty invite learning. Within this nurturing space, children move with purpose, explore with curiosity, and grow in independence—developing confidence, respect, and a lifelong love for learning.
At Modern Montessori, we offer a bilingual programme in English and Mandarin, supporting early language acquisition and cultural awareness. In addition, our Mandarin Immersion Programme provides deeper exposure through purposeful, language-rich learning experiences. Together, these approaches nurture confident bilingual learners in a natural and engaging environment.
